This screening program is curated by Cambridge Visual Culture Visiting Research Fellow, Mashinka Firunts Hakopian, for Cambridge Film & Screen. The works in the program explore how non-Western and Indigenous knowledge systems are omitted from prevailing algorithmic logics, and turn to the ancestral as a means to stage decolonial interventions in emerging technologies.
The program is preceded by a lecture on algorithmic visual cultures, and followed by a conversation between Hakopian and Dr. Kareem Estefan of Cambridge Film & Screen.
